Review: Camelback Resort Lodge and Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark
Camelback Resort is in Tannersville, Pennsylvania, which is just a short ride from major cities like New York City and Philadelphia. There is a lot to do in the area. You can ski, shop, experience nightlife and more while on vacation at Camelback Resort. Or you can just stay and enjoy the many offerings at the resort. My family and I were invited to spend a night at Camelback Resort to take part in the fall festivities as well as make use of the Aquatopia Water Park, the arcade, indoor rock climbing, laser tag and mini golf. Below is more about our experience and our recommendations.
All 453 rooms at Camelback Resort are suite style. Some of the rooms can accommodate up to 14 people, so bring your extended family or friends and share a suite. We were in a king bunk suite. We were very excited to stay in the King Bunk Suite because there were two bunk beds and a tv in a separate area of the suite. There was no door separating the rooms, but it was private from the main area and my kids were excited. When walking into the suite there was a bathroom area on the right and on the left was an area with a sink a closet. There was also another area with a mini refrigerator, counter and microwave. Across from that part of the suite was a room with two bunk beds and a tv. Two bunk beds meant no fighting from my two children about who sleeps on the top bunk!
In the main area, there was with a king size bed, sofa and table with chairs. It was very spacious and could easily sleep six people. The view of the mountain was spectacular also.
Upon arrival we wanted to do as much as we could so we got moving quickly. Before changing into our swim suits we decided to look around and explore. The lobby area was nice and decorated beautifully for the fall.
Just past the lobby was the activity zone where you could enjoy some things like mini golf, indoor rock climbing and laser tag. (Tip! Be sure you pack tennis shoes. Many of these activities require close-toe shoes.) There was also an arcade, which my kids loved. Pottery painting, crafts and a scavenger hunt were available in the evenings, too.
We decided to check out Aquatopia Water Park, which is conveniently inside the resort on the lower level. It was not crowded at all and there were plenty of seats. We made use of the wave pool and the lazy river. My daughter loved them both because she is not the overly adventurous type and it was perfect for her.
After a few hours at the water park we decided to go over to the lodge area and take part in the fall fest. The Monster Coaster was the highlight of the trip for my son. He LOVED racing down the mountain on a coaster past phantoms, ghouls and other things that go bump in the night. In the meantime, my daughter gladly went to the craft tent and could paint a pumpkin and do some sand art. She had a great time, too. It was a full day and my kids went to bed tired, which is a great thing!
In the morning, we got up and went to breakfast at the buffet restaurant called Hemispheres. The staff at Hemispheres were all so nice. We had also eaten dinner there the night before and were very pleased with both meals. The food was good and there was a great selection. There was no waiting for a table and the food was plentiful.
We then went back to the water park, so my son could do the Flowrider, which is a surfing simulator. The water slides were open to enjoy, too.
Some things I learned during my stay: Make sure you go to their website prior to your vacation. Many of the rides were closed during our visit. You can visit their website and review all of the activities and hours prior to your visit. Be sure you also pack closed-toe shoes. Some of those fun adventures do require closed-toe shoes and you don’t want to miss out!
All in all, our trip was great and I appreciate Camelback hosting us. The highlights of our trip were the Monster Mountain Coaster Ride and the crafts. Look for a great deal and then maybe you can check it out for yourself.
